Gallery

September 13, 2006 1:37 pm

Well, here we go.  I found the WPG2 plug-in for WordPress, installed it, and am now playing with it.

That was easy! - now let’s see if we can get the gallery to look like the WP theme…

New Stuff

12:22 pm

Couple of changes around here:

1 - moved from iPowerWeb to DreamHost. I’ve been on iPowerWeb for a long time, and was on one of their older servers. This resulted in slow load times for pages and email, and my host also was on a number of blacklists, so email sent was not delivered and bounced back too often. When I perused AskMefi for the “best web hosting”, DreamHost was consistently recommended. So, here we are.

2 - with the hosting move, I switched from MovableType to WordPress. So far so good, but it’s going to take a while to get used to the new platform, and tweak it to my likes.

3 - I also moved the gallery to Gallery2 from Gallery v1. Nice, but again, it will take some time to settle. I chose not to bring over all of the pictures from the old site, so we’re left with a random smattering of pictures marked as Favorites in Photoshop Elements, and some pix from our most recent Beach Week trip.

Anyway, glad to see you again - it’s been too long. :)

reFeed reDux

March 29, 2006 9:58 am

When I last blogged about reFeed/reBlog, I (sorta) bemoaned the fact that there was no way to splice two feeds together (e.g. my Feedburner feed for MT and Flickr, and my reFeed feed). Enter FEEDblendr (thanks Lifehacker!). Very easy to use, and now I have a new feed!

Please update your feeds for this blog (pick one, unless you care about the difference, there is no difference :)

http://feedblendr.com/rss/1979 (RSS 2.0 Format Feed)
http://feedblendr.com/atom/1979 (Atom Format Feed)

btw, I’m LOVING reFeed. Very quick and easy to scan through hundreds of feed items; I’m spending 3 minutes to get through everything instead of much more in the past (and I ended up having to “Mark All as Read” before I got to everything…we discussed this very problem at MindCamp 1.0). Try it (or mail me and you can try my install).

FeedBurner

November 23, 2004 12:22 pm

I’ve updated the ANVL RSS feed to use FeedBurner instead of the default MT XML RSS feed. Please update your RSS entry for ANVL to http://feeds.feedburner.com/anvl. This also includes my del.icio.us links.

If you’re looking for a way to read this feed, I recommend Pluck.

MoBlog and Gallery

June 29, 2004 2:54 pm

Well, I spent some time recently to update the Gallery on our site, do some integration of the gallery with MT, and incorporate a new MoBlog album in the Gallery via Mfop2.

Good stuff…at least I think so! Gallery is a great program, and now I can carry the look of the main MT blog over to the gallery via CSS (and manage CSS from the MT templates). Also, I can now email photos from my phone to the gallery without having to use MMS messages. Yippee!

Next steps: incorporate email notification on new pictures added to the gallery.

Now Playing

January 26, 2004 10:28 am

I love it — every time I turn around, a new plug-in to implement. This time, it’s using the TrackBack functionality within MT to support a “Now Playing” track list from Winamp. Here’s where to go to get the 411 — http://a.wholelottanothing.org/archives.blah/006625

Update: As you might see, Shoutcast streams have a tendency to hit the TrackBack too often. I must look for a way to solve this… –> I ended up setting the Timed Update parameter within the DoSomething plugin in Winamp to update every 60 seconds, vs. every time the stream changed. There’s a bit of a lag time, but so what?

AllConsuming

January 23, 2004 2:28 pm

Added an “AllConsuming” link to my “Currently Reading” info. Check it out on the left side of the page under the “Picture of the Day”. Excellent idea!

RSS

January 22, 2004 7:07 pm

I gotta say, I’m enjoying learning about RSS and blogging a little too much. There are some great tools out there to consolidate information that I’m interested in, and let me save bits and pieces to my weblog. Good stuff — check out this article for a good overview and places to start.

Hoo-RAH!

January 19, 2004 9:10 pm

ALL-RIGHTY then.

Here’s the new front page. Hope you like it — if not, let me know. You know how to reach us — if not, tough. :)
Next up, a new ANVL logo. Any of you graphic-artist types want to take a run at it?

New Front Page

4:06 pm

Okay folks — we’re messing around with the ANVL front page here. Soon we’ll have the blog be the front page with nice links to the gallery, since that’s what people come here to see.
