Jem

Sure, it’s a silly name, but she’s got a great voice. We’re planning on seeing her at the Crocodile Cafe in July — here’s some good live stuff from KEXP.

P.S. I’m still sore that we missed seeing Zero 7 at the Showbox:(

Monolith (C)?

From a number of blogs today — Monolith.

A “theoretical” approach, of course. What will the RIAA think?

Jamie Cullum

June 8, 2004 10:30 am

Anne and I got out last night and caught the Jamie Cullum show at the Century Ballroom. Fantastic show and a great venue — we’re very glad that we went. Jamie has a great voice, and an amazing stage presence. Very audience-involved, always in motion, not only playing the piano with some hella chops, but drumming on, on-top-of, and underneath the piano. He did some originals, some classics, and some newer covers (the Radiohead and Jimi Hendrix ones were my favorites). And, the Century was a fun place to see a show. Small and intimate, we sat at a table for 2 in the middle of the floor, had dinner before the show, and watched / listened to the music. Great night, and one that reminded me (although I love being a parent) how much fun it is to go out just with Anne.

No More Phishing

May 27, 2004 10:49 am

Sad news yesterday — Phish has announced that they will dis-band (pun intended) after the 2004 summer tour. It’s a shame and a disappointment, but in a strange way, it’s a good thing. I understand and respect the band’s decision to “quit at the top of their game”, but I’ll miss them. I (like many others I’m sure) have had some FANTASTIC times at Phish shows — the music, the fun, the people — just an awesome mix. If you’ve never seen Phish live, I recommend going this summer. If you can’t make it, well, there’s always Widespread Panic:)
